JALEO

JALEO is a collective and distributed research group by Nicolò Baldi, Annna Lozano and Minnie Pangilinan focused on circuit bending, low-tech, DIY tech and hardware hacking. We are based in Barcelona and in The Philippines, occasionally in Italy.

We organize workshops on circuit bending and hardware hacking and we also perform audio-visual live performances with the instruments we build, find more on the related pages!

MANIFESTO

We aim to explore not only the ecological but political nature of technological objects, exposing our right to go beyond the interfaces, the designed, the packed, the ready.
We express our right to reconnect what is digital to its physical resources.
To develop a process focused on the tangible body of these devices.
Going beyond their skin, carefully designed to put an unbridgeable gap in between the user and the knowledge to build the technology itself.
To instead build and share this knowledge collectively.
When every problem seems to need the right technology to be solved, and those technologies are even inaccessible beyond a group of experts, this is where the trouble begin.
The goal is to develop and share, through hands-on and open-source practices, a relationship of co-existence with technological artefacts that goes beyond their inaccessible and opaque design, by hacking and modifying their physical interface together.
